Rules and Regulations
- Judges will have full jurisdiction over, as well as plenary power to decide, all questions arising in connection with the contest. The decision of the judges will be FINAL.
- The Official length of pull will be 27 ½ feet. You may have three tries. Pulls of a shorter distance will not be used except to determine winners when two or more teams fail to pull the distance of 27 ½ feet.
- Drivers must ride the sled and not the horses. Whipping and shouting are forbidden, judges will use their own discretion in interpreting shouts. Drivers or helpers will not be permitted to carry whips while their teams are pulling.
- Horses may be driven by any driver designated by the owner, but drivers may not be changed during the pull.
- Heading of horses is not allowed.
- The track will be single lined. If a team steps on/or across the line, either horse on either side, that pull shall be disqualified and will have to pull again.
- Abusive actions or language by a contestant will be grounds for disqualification from the contest.
- Owners and their agents are forbidden to coach, pace, instruct or convey information to contesting drivers after the start of a pull until the conclusion of the pull.
- Harness must be furnished by the contestants. Weighted collars, special weights, bandages, , boots or artificial aids of any kind are forbidden.
- There will be NO changing bridals allowed during the class. The bridle you start with is what you finish with.

Mini Pull Class Sizing
32”and under – Horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the mane hair. The maximum height for this class will be 33 3/8” WITH SHOES. Unshod horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the last mane hair with maximum height being 32”.
34”and under – Horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the mane hair. The maximum height for this class will be 35 3/8” WITH SHOES. Unshod horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the last mane hair with maximum height being 34”.
36”and under – Horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the mane hair. The maximum height for this class will be 37 3/8” WITH SHOES. Unshod horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the last mane hair with maximum height being 36”.
38”and under – Horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the mane hair. The maximum height for this class will be 39 3/8” WITH SHOES. Unshod horses will be measured with their feet set squarely under their body and to the last mane hair with maximum height being 38”.
Rules and Regulations
- Once the measuring stick is laid on the horse’s back, they have 40 seconds to record measurement, with three attempts. The maximum time for three attempts will be 2 minutes.
- The official distance of the pull will be 10 feet. You will have three attempts. You may take a second pull hooked or unhooked, driver’s choice. If a horse steps over the tug or to prevent a tangle up while you are hooked to the sled and you can’t get the horse back in the tug without touching your horse, you must unhook.
- The Track will be single lined. If a team steps on or across the line, either pony on either side, that pull shall be disqualified and will have to pull again.
- The team or driver shall not be changed or replaced during a pull.
- There will be NO changing of bridles during the contest. The bridle you start with is what you finish with.
- Any slapping of horses by any means will disqualify the pull.
- The driver should not use any abusive actions or language against his or any other team during pull.
- Harness must be furnished by the contestants. Weighted collars, special weights, bandages, boots or artificial aids of any kind are forbidden.
- A driver and two helpers will be allowed to any one team.
- No side line driving. Driver and helpers must stay behind the eveners.
- There is a three minute time limit for hitching up. (Only 3 tries)
- Run away or driver loses lines, you are disqualified.
- The fair management reserves the right to blood test any one or all horses to check for evidence of use of illegal drugs and/or stimulates. Use of these substances will be grounds for disqualification.
- The judge’s decision in interpreting the rules of this contest is FINAL. Contestants who
dispute the judge’s decision will be disqualified.
